A king bed frame gives you more space than a queen 183cm x 203cm so two adults can sleep without crowding. If your room is around 3.4m x 3.4m or bigger, a king will sit nicely with bedsides and still leave walking room. Use this page to pick the right size, style and storage for your room.

How Big is a King Bed Frame?

  • Standard Australian king mattress: 183cm (W) x 203cm (L)
  • The frame may be a little wider/longer because of the side rails and bedhead
  • Best for main bedrooms or larger guest rooms

Notes

King

183 cm × 203 cm

Best for two adults, extra elbow room.

Queen

153 cm × 203 cm

Suits most main bedrooms; 30 cm narrower than king.

King Single

107 cm × 203 cm

For one person; same length as king, much narrower.

Super King

204 cm × 204 cm

For large rooms; wider than standard king.

Australian king is 183 × 203 cm. If you want more width than this, move up to a super king. If you need a single sleeper but adult length, pick a king single.

King Bed Frame Styles: Choose One to Suit Your Room

  • Soft edges, quieter, hotel look.

Timber / Timber-Look

  • Easy to clean, suits coastal, Scandi and modern rooms.

LED Headboard

  • Softer night light and a more modern look.

Bed Frame Construction & Support (Important for Kings)

King beds are wider, so they need a bit more support than a queen bed frame.

  • Centre support rail for king sizes: a good king frame should have a centre rail running from head to foot. This helps stop sagging in the middle.
  • Number of slats and spacing: look for strong slats with sensible spacing (close slats support the mattress better and help it last longer).
  • Extra mid-leg support: because a king is wider, it usually needs legs in the middle under that centre rail. This spreads the weight of two adults — and sometimes a heavy mattress — so the frame doesn’t bow.
  • Adding this makes it clear the product is designed for kings, not just “a bigger queen”.

Mattress & Height Compatibility

  • Fits standard AU king mattress (183 × 203 cm): our king frames are made for local sizes, so no weird gaps.
  • Headboard height: an ideal mattress height for most framed beds is around 22–32 cm — this lets the headboard show above your pillows.
  • Heavy hybrid or latex mattresses on gas-lift beds: these mattresses are heavier. They can still work on a gas-lift model, but you may need to lift with two people, and the mattress should sit flat on the slats.

Storage Use in Real Bedrooms

  • Leave 70–80 cm clearance so drawers or the gas-lift can open properly.
  • Gas-lift works best on hard floors (timber, hybrid, tiles). On thick carpet it can feel a little heavier to lift.
  • Great if you don’t have a tallboy or big robe: under-bed storage is an easy place to keep seasonal bedding and kids’ linen

FAQs

Do two singles make a king?

Not quite. Two long singles together are closer to a king. Two standard singles are shorter, so they won’t match a king frame.

What size is a king bed in Australia?

183cm wide x 203cm long.check our mattress size guide

What size room do I need for a king?

Around 3.4m x 3.4m or bigger is comfortable. Smaller rooms can work, but you’ll have less walking space.

Do your king frames have centre support?

Yes, our king frames are designed to support the wider size, with centre rail and mid-legs on suitable models.

Do you have king beds with storage?

Yes — gas lift and drawer designs. Check the product photos and description.

Is assembly hard?

It comes flat-packed with instructions. Two people will make it faster, especially for gas-lift beds.

Can I match this with other Levede furniture?

Yes — pair it with our bedside tables, tallboys and dressers to keep the look consistent.
